imageUnder Fire - Jo Davis

Zack is a firefighter at Station Five.

We read about Zack's growing passion for Corrine.  Can they survive the blackmail and danger that surrounds them?

I love this series and can't wait for the next one!

Book 1 - Trial by Fire

Book 2 - Under Fire

Sudden Death & Fatal Secret - Alison Brennan

These books deal with revenge, human trafficking, murder and money laundering.

I always thoroughly enjoy Brennan's books, and these didn't disappoint.

With "Sudden Death" I will be honest really made me cringe.  The torture scenes were very graphic, but I did find myself in a way feeling sorry for one of the murderers.  He was delusional, troubled due to his own capture and torture.  Both books are keepers.

Book 1 - Sudden Death

Book 2 - Fatal Secret

Book 3 - Cutting Edge

Rescue Me, Return to Me & Run to Me - Christy Reece

This series of books deal with the operatives of the Last Chance Rescue Agency.  They rescue children and adults when they have been abducted and no other agency can help.  Hence the name.

All the operatives have had difficult lives before being brought under the wings of Noah, their leader, mentor and friend.

What can I say Brillllliiiiiaaaaannnnnnnttttttt!  Obviously going to be a series as there are many more characters to come and I can't wait for Cole and Gabe

Book 1 - Rescue Me

Book 2 - Return To Me

Book 3 - Run To Me

Waking Nightmare by Kylie Brant

Abbie workes for an exclusive group of criminalogists.  She is set to help Detective Robel find a rapist.

I read Brant in Silhouette and normally keep.  But this was just OK!  The characters didn't do it for me.  She whined all the time he seemed to apologise for everything even when he was right!

Really disappointed.

Cry Mercy by Mariah Stewart

Emma joins Mercy Foundation as an investigator.  Her first job is to find Nick's missing niece, but Emma has a secret that could destroy her life.

Good story, very light.  If it wasn't for the continuing underlying story about Robert's search for his son and wife, with the help of Suzanne, his assistant.

I might not necessarily read the 3rd book if I had other books to read.

Other books in this genre:

Tall Dark & Deadly by Lorie O'Clare - Not bad but not a keeper in my opinion.

Wild Heat by Bella Andre - What a let down.  I usually like her books but I was really disappointed.
Dark & Deadly by Jeanne Adams - Loved her first book but this one was a let down.
Ice by Stephanie Rowe - I personally didn't finish it.
One Scream Away by Kate Brady - Really liked this book and will probably keep if the next one is as good.
A Convenient Proposition by Cindy Gerard - OK.
One Reckless Summer by Toni Blake - Kept.
How To Seduce a Texan by Karen Kelly - Very Good.
The Soldier by Rhonda Nelson - Kept.
